Cassel is murderous levels of sleep deprived, traumatized, literally cursed, and wickedly delicious. I'm sure once he's done wanting to kill the FL, he's ~probably~ sweet on the inside.
You get a bunch of hot mean dudes who warm up over time BUT... the real treat is one grows into a true yandere. He's my favorite, obviously. ~I'm not giving you his name~ because I'm not a total spoilsporrt.

The ML is just your basic dislike-turned-like situation, and he is definitely a smokeshow. The FL's brother, however, is a total psycho with control and obsession issues- and also happens to be a smokeshow. ;)
The ultimate villain technically barely exists until season 3. As a novel reader tho: so much wow. His character depth is more than worth it.
He's at least a 2nd ML. Just trust me. EDIT TO SAY REED IS HERE, NOT A DRILL. Let's gooo
No real spoilers: The "good" ML was straight up an enemy in war from our FL's past life... and our twisted (sub ML?) literally murdered our FL in the first life. Two very different types of darkness cling to two very different (but still yummy) male characters. My passionate love and hatred for the kinda-sub-ML keeps bringing me back for more.
