Far too many anime and manga out there are either sickeningly salacious (sexually perverted), mentally toxic, disturbingly violent, or otherwise just depressingly dark and evil in manner. 
I want to still have hope in the beauty and profoundly deep and enlightening nature in anime and manga; themes that you find a lot in the works of Hayao Miyazaki and Makoto Shinkai. There are gems out there still. You just have to search really hard for them.
