No in fact majority of kisaeng (prostitutes) had bodyguards with them in the old days... this was for their safety when they go out... Because they do it as work and its consensual but some people might just attack them if they are alone... so thats why
Even if they are not respected by many people... we cannot deny that kisaeng houses were famous source of entertainment back in those days... so there were maannnyyy people who enjoyed their company so they do need some sort of protection so that not all sort of people come pouncing on them
She must be respectable kisaeng idk.. But in some kdrama i saw kisaeng also has like male servants who pull her cart. And if one kisaeng is a favorite of a noble or higher class man, i think it's possible if she has that kind of treatment such as guards, money, and ect
