They can't. The author established (Chapters 40-42), that if a bonded couple separates, it will have SEVERE detrimental effects on both (possibly even leading to one or both dying). In other omegaverse, you can cancel a bonding, or you can bond and then just go your separate ways and the only effect is that the omega won't be able to bond or have sex with anyone else, but in THIS universe, even if they don't love each other, they cannot physically separate or they risk possible death.
at this point, i just want them to be separated and think things through. if they really love each other or if their love for each other is stronger than anything. just divorce instead of hurting each other.
