Its the first time they're actually showing any flashbacks from their childhood. But Yahwi did hint at them having some kind of background a few times earlier on but I think Jooin doesn't remember.

I might have to go back and re read this whole thing cause im confused, I didn't know that join and yahwi knew each other as kids. so im kinda confused. but damn I wanna see join and cain have some action already xD
