That didn't happen. Look it up for real, not by linking people taking interviews out of context.
There is no record whatsoever of Yams ever saying any such thing. People just assumed he was pro-imperialized Japan because of the subject matter of AoT, but that's not the case, nor is it what AoT is actually about (as it's actually scathingly good war horrors commentary).
Don't take people's secondhand accounts and blog/tumblr posts as gospel, guys. If you link me anything that is not factual first hand accounts of Isayama Hajime saying that he agrees with Japanese Imperialism or saying that The Rape of Nanking didn't happen, then you're still full of sh*t. It. Did. Not. Happen.
And in other news, the translator's use of the meme was dead on and hilarious.

Here. Actual information on some of the actual discourse on what he ACTUALLY posted "confirming" to Twitter (not that the the Rape of Nanking, a horrible historical event never happened) and the wild speculation and baseless rumors this has led to over the years against an author with a solid outlook and masterful commentary on war, quite frankly.

By the way, the character of Dot Pixis is not a hero. There are no heroes in AoT, that is kind of the author's entire point. In fact, SPOILER::: the main protagonist becomes the main antagonist because war is horrifying and there are no good guys, quite the opposite of the claims of an Imperialist loving mangaka. The people that spread this nonsense have neither basic critical reading skills nor critical thinking skills required for navigating life.
But keep on believing in internet rumors. ::eyerooooooooll::
Done. Thanks for the opportunity to call out these idiots still passing this around nearly 10 year old busted ass rumor.

well said. i've known this a while and as such was never part of the Shingeki no Kyojin hype. it didnt look to my taste but it was SO popular i almost tried it out until i read more about it and was like NOPE. the irony of seeing a graphic for it on the botton of a korean webtoon was not lost on me. anyway idc what people watch but they need 2 keep their shit elsewhere.

there are screen shots of his blog posts. anyways, i still find it alarming if people were able to read anti-semitic sentiment as well as fascist subtext. read this for the rumour though it should be said that the blog post is the one in question.

ok i know this is just at the bottom of the chapter but it makes me so uncomfortable. look, this is a korean webtoon. and the mangaka of aot has literally said that he’s pro-japan imperialism. he’s pro-japan colonising korea. and it’s not even fucking subtext it’s the text itself. aot is anti-korean and nationalistic. mangaka admitted that dot pixis is based on akiyama yoshifuru responsible for the first sino-japan war and numerous war crimes against the... you guessed it... koreans... and talking about wars,,, don’t you know he also denied that the rape of nanjing happened? and this was right after his admittance about yoshifuru btw when he was getting ratioed (as he should) by koreans. yeah that same nanjing massacre where thousands of civilians were raped and murdered by japanese soldiers. so idk about you but personally, it makes me so incredibly uncomfortable knowing that this mangaka, no, this japanese person, is not an isolated case in japan where they obscure and censor their own history. a bloodied history. sorry if this sounds grim but i think it’s necessary to say this. thank you for reading (oh plus as a lot of people know aot is anti-semetic too)
