I’m shocked how many people are defending this honestly I though like we as a society had moved past using gay as a negative word.
honestly. and seeing fellow members of the lgbtq+ community trying to back up homophobia is sickening. normalized doesn’t equal ok. placing negativity behind any sexuality is wrong, end of story. that doesn’t even mean bash the tl, most ppl just want an apology tbh.
i also agree that the translator probably wasn’t TRYING to come off as rude or homophobic and i dont think the tl notes ruined the chapter.... but using the word ‘gay’ to describe anything negatively IS rude AND homophobic, no matter how normalized it is where you live. trying to defend your actions when you are wrong instead of apologizing makes you really seem like a bad or ignorant person.
