I'm pretty sure they killed her off because of Jeremy as their family is like the royal family's sword,, getting rid of her would make him sad or angry(?) So the church could have the upper hand in starting a war and taking over the royal family ,,,maybe
Is the church doing all these to gain more power? If so this is way too corrupt. I'm so effing angry as well as to how they can think that their actions are good. They are merely using God's name for their selfish desires. Disgusting. Also, I know the knight is feeling guilty or has apprehension towards Shuli but he has abandoned his duty to protect his Master above all else. I don't want to blame him but if he were at her side, then maybe things could have gone differently. I just feel all the more sad because she has died devoid of love, both familial and the affection of her people. She has endured so much just for a promise with the previous Marquis, even though it's clearly obvious she was being used. No one deserves all that hate nor did she deserve to be treated as a pawn by the church. Her life is her own. I respect her choices but just a little humanity and kindness from the people around her would have changed her fate.
