I mean the kid did nothing wrong. If Lou kills the king before he "trains" the kid, or appoints him as his successor, then naturally Ian (the oldest and knowledgeable one) will be the one to take the throne. But I agree with everything else.

For some reason he seems to want the guy only as a competitor to Ian, not really someone who will actually take the throne. Idk why, and I do not wanna understand the bastard king anyways..
