If THAT is what you have to put yourself through for the chance of POSSIBILY being selected a prince that MIGHT (not confirmed which one yet) be Emperor, its not worth the aggro.
It's like a perverse and more extreme version of "Justice for the Villainess" where the FL endures being ignored and mistreated by the Crown Prince (at least it's actually confirmed he is going to be Emperor unlike here).
However, at least in that story the FL explains the reason she pursues being Empress and to win the contest against the original heroine is to protect the future of her family. Since her family were part of a faction against the crown prince in favor of his deceased younger brother to be Emperor. There was some logic there.
