I actually think the parents were trying to protect him from mr wolf so they left him to hide and idk blind folded him so he wouldn’t see, I think the mint chocolate ice cream or the idk mushrooms(starts with a k) are like drugs that make him hallucinate from what’s really happening to what he wants to see or believe to see, if u see mr wolf killed his parents and the cat didn’t see that bc he might’ve thought his parents abandoned him and mr wolf was his savior, he’s hallucinating and has Stockholm syndrome but the sad thing is he doesn’t know that.

I think the boy was being abused and he thinks that he was saved by the wolf
or in my messed up brain, my understanding of this is Mr. Wolf is a child predator / murderer that **** kids (the stuff toys in the room and when he eats it) and he took a liking to the boy so he spoils him ig? The monster was actually a person who was helping the boy get help and the monster that didnt like mint chocolate was like a person or child who knew what Mr. Wolf was doing then Mr. Wolf killed them and the boy thinks its normal
Maybe because the child didnt know what it felt like to be loved or cared for because he was abandoned or abused so he thought this was all good
