I totally agree with you. I do hope the ML confesses to the police and serves whatever sentence that is verdict by the law, so that both the FL and ML and finally live in peace without any lingering guilt breaking their minds.
I don't know how Japan's justice goes, but it seems to be the male lead's crime is manslaughter. Can't argue that it's self-defense because his life wasn't in immediate danger and it became a crime of passion the moment he decided the brother does not deserve to live anymore. Moreover, a self-defense claim is really hard to prove when there were just the two of them and the fact that he hid for years only aggravates his charge. Well, I get a feeling hewill eventually confess when he'll know that the victim was the female lead's brother because of guilt or something. It's truly tragic but I hope they still have a good ending.
