Not really. Opposite actually since it's more unhealthy to deny someone being a human being that's capable of changing/repenting (tho the entire comments section here seems to disagree, for real of meme's sake).
He did wrong and finally comes around to realizing just how badly wrong he was AND feels remorse. Having sympathy for him just shows you have an actually healthy dose of sympathy in your heart and can understand both sides of the coin. Plus, it shows how well of a job the writer did to make this actually realistic (and not just in a one-sided way).
Either way, the author did a good job having this play out so well for both the characters ending up getting the reader's sympathy. It's nice to see both sides get their attention in this, not just the poor girl that got hurt but also the guy who realizes how badly he behaved and regretting his actions.
I really hope they both talk about this at some point tho. Would be a shame to just have this fade out and each of them have a seperate closure-type arc. I'd love for this to not go that immature way but instead have them behave like adults. Which is rare in shoujo stories, but I can still hope, right? (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
WHY DO I FEEL BAD FOR HIM SOMEONE STOP ME THIS IS UNHEALTHY
