I completely agree. Even though Rashta does make really bad choices she has a pretty valid reason for it and the hate she gets doesn't fit the crime. Tbh if the roles were reversed and Rashta was the MC I'm sure people would be fine with her actions. I'm not saying I like her but I don't hate her either. She's actually a very good villain. She's not being a bitch just for the sake of being a bitch and she is the most complex character in the story.

she's an antagonist we're supposed to dislike her but i agree the hate towards her for what all I've witnessed is awfully misogynistic and superficial. she's not the only one acting on self preservation, every other chara is as well but the hate towards her goes beyond generic anti antagonist agenda u see usually

SO TRUE. I feel like it’s okay to dislike her, cause she and the MC are at odds, but wishing rape upon her and critiquing her every little movement is unreasonable. What makes her such a good villain is the fact that you can sympathize with her. She’s manipulative, but her her reason for being so can be seen in her past and in her present. She’s not one note, she’s 3D.
I won't hate Rashta... I literally can't.
She was probably born and raised as a slave, was basically used by a previous master as a trial-girlfriend (ngl I low-key don't like him) and of course it can be argued that he is nice for trying to get back together now but in the beginning he got with a girl who wouldn't even had the power to refuse him, got her pregnant and then left her because he was scared.
When she gave birth... Alone... In a fricking barn, she thought her child died and only after the "miscarriage" and her "lover" leaving her she ran away. No education, probably no money because no one said something about her stealing. Then she got lucky and met the emperor and that was probably also the first time she got some resemblance to a normal life... just with the added bonus of luxury.
I absolutely understand why she would lie about everything. He is the best chance for getting out of slavery. I'm suspecting she doesn't actually love him but she loves the security that comes with him. And now this security is endangered and the child she thought she lost is used against her and her unborn kid... And she also feels torn because she wants to see her child. Not to mention she is up against people that aren't restricted like she is and have money as well as power.
You'll notice that every single one off her actions never happens out of hate, spite, etc. It's always self-preservation or newly added bonus: concern for her unborn child . Does she use dirty tactics and underhanded methods? Absolutely. Does she have other options? Not really. In the beginning she could have just lived quietly without beeing seen or heard but with the azzhole noble appearing that was wiped off the table. Do I think her personality is kind of annoying? Yeah... Doesn't change the fact that she is resilient af and I can appreciate that
To sum it up Rashta wants to survive and I am not about to reprimand that.
