if you're not paying for the content you're reading and you're not reading it from the source then you're reading it illegally

In case that was too subtle, yes and so is mangago and mangakakalot and other similar sites including korean sites like tkor and chinese sites like dm5. They do not seek permission from authors to post or translate their work. Anime sites that are not crunchyroll, something like netflix, or funimation are also illegal. Novel sites that translate and post novels without permission such as novelupdates and moonbunnycafe too. Hope that makes sense.

It amazes me how some users on this site don't know this already. Not saying OP didn't know tho..

Same, for me what appals me even more is that some people spend years on illegal sites and they never take the initiative to inform themselves about the official platforms

I had a feeling it wasn’t legal, but I saw a story here on mangago that said to support the author on mangadex.

When I searched it up, the first source that came up was from mangadex themselves saying that they supported the authors (and my gullible ass believed it lmao.)

Anyways thanks everyone for the clarification! I appreciate it.

Anyway, I think the reason you are asking this question is because some uploaders ask for readers to read on mangadex instead of mangago. Because mangadex doesn’t earn profit, it is a bit more ethical to use. Mangago possibly make millions a year from the reuploads and the scanlators jobs

Mangago doesn't even have ads. It's just run by people who upload here themselves.

And the reason some translations say "read in mangago" or "read in mangadex" is because the scanlation group uploading the series is part of the community at that specific site. So they can see comments and join convos with readers and shit. Does not mean that work belongs to that site.

Lmao no, mangago has ads for all the people who don’t have an account and that’s the majority. Mangago earns a lot of money without doing anything because those who uploads are regular people and bots.
