this is hard when your a noble and you have to act you don't have a weakness. I get why he did that to her to make her tough and not be bullied by socialites. Also he doesn't show his affection to his daughter becoz of spies. The envious King always send him on an errand it wasn't all his fault anyway.
It kinda breaks my heart of the thought of the duke's reaction after knowing that his daughter took her own life with the knife he gave her for protection. I mean like why you so cold to your child my men to the point she misunderstood?
