You're definitely right but also this is a romance novel with a cautious ML, he's always going to want to know what's going on with Ran.
I think we can safely say that both leads are on the paranoid side of caution but that's a good point- Ran's autonomy is pointless to him if it could cause himself or Lachia harm though I do believe he has some small measure of hope in her
