This pains my heart while reading it. You mean to tell me that all this time the duke was a doting father. Then why ignore her all this time? So that his weakness wont be discovered?? In the book. Surely the duke gave her a sword to protect herself and the crown prince was going to pretend to kill her but really rescue her. BUT because she grew up her whole with no warmth and love from.her father, it led her to believe that she wasnt needed and that it was better to die AND IT PAINS MY HEART SO MUCH THE WHOLE TIME because she misunderstand her fathers intention and I DONT BLAME HER for it because that was what she thought. So the story now where the duke is suddenly warming up to her and being nice IS CREEPY AND HARD TO SWALLOW like why????? Why now??? Why not before??? Poor poor juve!
