It’s a lose lose situation he chose the option that has the highest chance of keeping Noah safe and chose to get raped so Noah doesn’t have to, he’s trying his best

He can “distract” him doing things the man wants. The man seems like he will rape someone (spoiler: also heard this one in the comments) no matter the condition. So being aware of your surroundings at all costs makes it more advantageous and logical
They may be kidnappers but they aren't dumb, eventually or maybe even immediately they'll notice that Jace is trying to distract them from eating that thing. The options are that Jace eats it and gets r-ped OR Noah, pretty sure which option is better is obvious. UNLESS the author really does make them dumb then I have nothing to say.
