I really liked all the main characters

I found Tanabe to be very mature and quite a noble character. Since he had already faced his feelings of attraction before, he was aware of the pain they could cause not only himself, but others. For this reason, he felt the need to distance himself from the person to whom he was attracted. He understood that both he and Akira needed time to sort out their feelings. Thus, he speaks of meeting in the future. He has hopes for their future, but allows Akira the freedom to choose for himself.
Tatsuya was a sweet and gentle character, but he struck me more as confused about his sexuality than truly gay or even bi. He'd make a great husband for some lucky woman.
Akira was the epitome of "teenager". Adult feelings and desires trying to be comprehended by a child's thought processes. Luckily - or by the manga-ka's design - he was quick to mature and recognized the "adult" answers among the "child's" thoughts.
All beautifully written and "fleshed out" characters in a story that is timeless, regardless of the genre. Although the plot is typical of the genre, the "spin" put on it was less so and the end was refreshing. A fine work by a talented manga-ka.

Nicely put! I appreciated Tanabe's honesty; he was consistent with his words and deeds, no hand-wringing, no blaming others. His self-awareness was refreshing as well.
