Actually I think is quite the opposite.. Coco seems to "fall in love" with complete strangers very easily and to get over his heartbreak every time very quickly.
But I think in the end he didn't want his relationship with the Wolf to evolve to something romantic cause he was the only one he couldn't live without. Cause he was afraid that if his heart got broken by the Wolf, the same way it got broken by his previous love interests, he wouldn't be able to recover.
I mean when they kissed he didn't find it repulsive, on the contrary he didn't stop it and he even blushed. And he wanted to ask the fairies to make Wolf live longer than him (p.32) cause he wanted to be with him till the end.
Well I want to believe that because the chapter begins with the ending (Coco looking for Wolf and we get a hint that he finds him on the ground) that he found him on time or that he asks fairies for Wolf to be reborn, so they get to be together again (Wolf says in the end "Let's meet again") but this time Wolf is the younger one (so he ends up living longer than Coco).
I am sorry for the long reply but I am trying to convince myself that the ending was open in order to heal my heart from the effect this chapter had!!!! I mean it totally ruined my day .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·.
I feel so bad for wolf ╥﹏╥ Coco seemed to love EVERY other man that he met WHY couldn't he love Wolf(/TДT)/
