Remember ML's uncle? Yes he is the main villain. And in some points he is one of the reasons MC gets killed.

But ML stupidly doesn't get the true motives if his uncle, even after so many years

Okay so after ML believes MC and accepts his new form, they start living happily "ever after" buuuut _ his uncle discovers his nephew's strange behaviour and of course he tries to do something but this time MC explains everything to ML and then Revenge!!!
Hehehe almost something similar am not sure due to bad translation of original work.
But after that they just live happily ever after and there also about 23extras which are extremely cute written. So I would suggest not to be discouraged because of his doppelganger form. He is still way smaller when standing aside with ML.
And who cares about changed appearance when there is love hahah ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Oh and sad thing about it, many may not feel through manhua but in the novel it is very heartbreaking to read how almost all side characters got sad ending. My heart still aches for general and red hair. His whole family gets killed by misinformation about his actions during war. People thinks that it was him who betrayed general and his people to enemies which as a result caused deaths of all army. When ML and MC returns to the northern kingdom, MC brings red hear alongside with him saying "we are finally returning to home ".
But when they return to northern kingdom, and red head discovers his family left in ruins and shameful condition, his memories flashes back and triggers his mental condition and from than on he changes. Still mentally unstable makes very serious wrong conclusions about MC and kills him by accident. That's very sad scene which I still cannot erase from my mind even so it has been so long（/TДT)/

Okay, so that his past life look alike imperial brother is an important figure for the future chps. Just remember him guys.

Later after a lot of drama, war, torture, abduction and betrayal and etc. Our precious MC will be killed by our a bit insane poor redhead. And so he will trans migrate into that imperial brother's body who is at the same time look alike of our MCs past life, abt 3-4 years after his current body death.
