Hmmm I kinda understand why she doubts Riftan. It's cause she doesn't really know why. Riftan keeps going on about them being husband and wife and loyalty and faithfulness to the marriage duties of a married couple Yada Yada. Which kinda makes it seem like he's being forced to stay by his belief and morals, instead of actually doing it willingly. And Maxi, who's been traumatized and insecure her whole entire life, being told that she's like literally nothing and nobody would want her, would of course doubt him. Especially since they barely know each other. I would too honestly, cause how far and how much can belief and morals go? One day he might find someone that hell fall in love with to the point where those morals and beliefs will seem like a shackle he'd want to break free from.

That's human nature... a person deprived of love, affecting, knowledge, always being told they are useless and that they should have died, common sense is something they know nothing off. So yes they will doubt anything and everything...and they will always believe that what's giving to them , they don't deserve...

If a person who had lived all their life with the brand of "useless" doesn't know a thing, they will never ask for help. They're very scared of admitting that they're useless. People around her should've taken the initiative. When the butler had seen her orders, he should've spoken to her just what Ruth did.

Fucking seriously? She has been abused her entire life! Her dad constantly beat her and then would have mages heal her so he would never get caught, she was never given proper clothing, she was probably verbally abused everyday by her family about her stutter, she was constantly told she was ugly and an embarrassment to the family etc. Riftan was not only forced to take Max's father's place is what was basically the draft for the war but the marriage to riftan was arranged, they didn't marry for love. Of course she has literally no confidence in herself or trust in others. She thinks she has no value and cannot understand why riftan cares about her at all. She thought riftan was gonna divorce her in the 1st chapter like come the fuck on! They haven't met for 3 fucking years and Max was still stuck in asshole land during that time! It will probably take her years to overcome the trauma from the abuse! But riftan constantly shows her affection and that's slowly helping her. She thought her hair was hideous but riftan said it looked like red clouds and she thinks about that when she sees her hair now. She was afraid of all the servants disrespecting and abusing her but now she's starting to see thats not the case. Of course she didnt ask for help when she couldn't figure things out with the budget. Literally nothing in her experience before coming to riftan's serf has led her to believe anything good about herself or that she'll recive kindness from anyone around her. BUT SHE IS LEARNING. She's slowly overcoming her trauma and shortcomings and it's amazing to watch! She's made enough progress that Ruth has been able to see parts of her personality come out. She's also being a pretty awesome lady of the house. She's meticulous, listens to he the advice of others like ruth and is lond to the everyone. If read a manga like this and can't understand a character like Max then you obviously have no empathy as human and simply just wanna complain about stupid stuff to just complain.

You're right. I never said I didn't understand where she was coming from or why she was like this. All I'm saying is... sometimes it's tiresome to read about someone who is constantly so negative. Which doesn't mean I'm not sympathetic or don't understand. I'm not saying she's awful. Like I said, I do appreciate her trying her best. Just saying this might not be my cup of tea. ML is so wonderful though and they can be so cute that I'm hesitant in dropping it

it's not about having faith or not having faith. if you think that the only problem here then you missed the point. it's about self worth and love yourself, that what this is about! it's not really about him then it is about her and how she feel about herself after living a horrible life with big trauma that she still live it to this day, then yeas she will react like this and it will be hard for her to fully trust anyone. that what abuse does to people! and she live it ever since she was a child!! of course she have trouble asking for help, it is a miracle she was able to even ask for it!

Ugh I know! You're so right. Riftan omg lol. And yes, it can be really satisfying, except, the older I get, the less patience I have for weak characters lol. I mean, I don't blame them if they have a reason to be that way. The thing is that I don't enjoy reading characters like that anymore. It's like how I normally don't like to read angsty stories. But like I said before... Riftan ugh <3 and they can be so cute when they're together...
I love the ML, but the FL is a bit...I understand she's like this because she lived her entire life being told she was useless and I do appreciate her trying her best, but bruh... When she didn't understand how money worked and instead of asking she just decided to wing it really tested my patience. And she should at least have a bit more faith in her husband. He already rejected a princess because he believes that keeping their vows is important and he already said he was planning on living together forever. But she keeps doubting. IRL, perfect relationships will get ruined because of insecurity, because having to reassure you nonstop will tire the other out. Plus, the actions your insecurities make you take will just push other people away.
