Please correct me if Im wrong but I think the blond guy (because of the evil beings inside of him) betrayed Cain and all this time has been partnering with Satan. So now Cain has to fight all these demons because of that. So he left our boy to protect him from getting hurt more than he already had gotten hurt (because they had to use his soul or something to cure Cain and that almost killed him)

that sounds right, it was the weirdly placed flashbacks that were tripping me up. I couldn't tell how far back the flashbacks were, if he had been colluding with Satan all this time or was after Cain getting more powerful
