You didn't read the first chapter from the beginning, where Lancelot said he would never let her 'leave again'? Clearly he was the one who left her when they were younger so why would he mention *her* leaving unless he was talking about their previous life? I mean yes she did break their promise but I highly doubt there is any way that could be taken as 'leaving him'. Plus both she and Lancelot use the words 'second time' a lot so it's more likely the start of the first chapter was showing her current life, clearly.
If that is what you meant, then she is going to fail in this lifetime too. Because you said 'leave her again' as in previous life not current life,that means he met her at jail at current life
That is why I was confused if the ending gonna be a failure.... too
This is my opinion, 'again' does not mean previous life, he just stated that as in not gonna wander off to other side of world again.
