I don't like the anime's arrangement. When I started reading the manga I didn't know anything about the story. I didn't doubt that the dolls were artificial made for the shadows to use. I thought it was a feel good slice of life story set in a fantasy world and I was looking forward to learn more about both the world and the characters. Then it pulled a Gakkou gurashi on me in a good way. Based on just 1 episode the anime appears to just spewing out the information without creating the atmosphere the manga created. It doesn't pull me in, it's just telling what's going on as a matter of fact.
