What makes you think he had a choice? And it's clear that he has trauma just from reading the recent chapters plus he probably tore up the bunny because he knew the OG stepmother had placed something in stuffed toys to hurt his daughter before. Which makes the case that, if he knew the OG stepmother had abused his daughter in other ways too he would have stopped her or prevented her from doing so, even TIGHTER. So I'm just saying that the mental toll wasn't JUST on her.
The way I see it, is that she really had no one when she married that trash king. She married a man who refused to love her, who left her alone and spoke coldly to her, and she had no one around her but maids and felt no love for a child that wasn’t hers because she realized she would never receive the love she felt was due to her as a married woman. Like it definitely wasn’t okay for her to act the way she did and she was definitely horrible, but I can see the mental toll that could take on someone. ╥﹏╥
