I don't think he had to do any of that because the brother pushed Jaewon down the stairs, and that caused him to lose his memory. So he didn't have to be blackmailed cause had forgotten even being friends in the first place.
I have a feeling that the rumor was started by his brother.... But for some reason, jaewon kept that secret and admit it was him who started it... Maybe bcs the blind brother blackmailed him or smtg?? Also, is the scene of them talking about insects and metamorphosis, their first meeting?
