Trashta is not treating the empress badly? But she's always acting like a victim and ruins the empress' reputation and it is her goal to replace the empress coz if not why would she want to marry the shit emperor in the first place? If she only wanted to have a better life, she would not have to bother to have disguised parents. She already have the dick emperor's affection.
She wants to have a assured life. After she heard that concubines could be easily replaced, she understandably got scared and stressed. After she got asked to be empress for a year, it was clear that she didn't really want to, but it was too great of an opportunity to pass.
During the entire thing the other Duke was stringing her along with his own plan to make her empress and the Emperor was the one spoiling her.
I honestly saw that she made an effort to get along with the empress. Whenever she did something to offend her by accident it always turned out to be a misunderstanding caused by the emperor. Just like the gift thing.

I don’t hate Rashta for wanting to secure a better life for herself, but I do hate her lack of effort and unwillingness to be a proper empress. Not once since she’s been living at the palace has she made an effort to pursue an education, nor learn manners. She just manipulates men when things don’t go her way, and dreams of a position she doesn’t have the first idea about. I think she’d be a much better character if she weren’t so lazy and conniving
