Pointers for what happened in chapter 50:
***This happened in the first timeline***
-Tia created a shortage of grain (by using pirates, arson, and stockpiling the remaining grain)
-Thus, the price of the grain increased by a huge amount
-Roygar used this chance to sell the grain as high (in price) as possible
-He's very greedy that's why he was bribed easily
-He colluded with the King of Eimel, which is a crime. Because of this, they send lesser supplies of grain to the North
-Karam was able to penetrate the Thold Gateway since the Evron army was weak due to starvation
-The Emperor investigated why they lost and found out that Roygar is conspiring with the Kingdom of Eimel. Hence, Roygar's downfall
-Overall, it was simply a chain of events schemed by Tia to help her brother rise to the throne (since Duke Roygar is also a competition for the throne)

***Back to current timeline***
-Since Tia's plan to eliminate Duke Roygar (for the competition for the throne) worked the first time, she's thinking of doing it again to help Cedric this time
-It's like hitting two birds with one stone, eliminating competition and a corrupt noble (since Tia also wants to change those at the top to revitalize the Empire)
-Cedric disagrees since this will cause suffering and famine to the innocent citizens
-Cedric let Tia know that she can come up with another method since he believes in her intelligence

***It's long but I hope it helps with the confusion. If I said something incorrect here, you can correct me. Thanks! (=・ω・=)
