Excuse me may i ask what happens in ai no kusabi cause i watched the ova and then i couldnt find the manga just a novel and ngl i was a bit lazy to read it so i understood absolutely nothing about the story
It's been so long XD I don't think they made a manga.
But it's a standard caste system theme which is very similar to the newer Rhapsody of Mulan but much darker and slave based. I remember the uke was originally part of a rebel group but the high rank seme took an interest in him some Stockholm love happened then he freed him but not? Then a guy in the rebellion kidnapped the uke because he was also in love with him and removes the uke's slave collar. But in this world the slave collars can only be removed by the owners ...and they are placed around the sensitive bits...so yeah this rebel guy ripped the uke's penis off. The seme shows up too late to stop this and the rebel guy had the base set to explode. So the seme and uke decide to die together.
At least that's what I remember but it's been probably like 15 years since so I might reread it to make sure I'm not fusing with the ova.
Each chapter feels like an intro to a porn that no one is believing...but I kinda got distracted by the very first chapter dragon meme so I probably didn't give this a fair chance.
Just to clarify the 90s had some darker yaoi stop thinking we just had lame ass Gravitation. We had Fake (a serious cop drama...their was another one with like spirit detectives I forgot the name to, similar style) and Ai no Kusabi which was my first ever yaoi and honestly still some of the darkest shit I ever saw. I still feel sad about all those characters
