yeah that was one of the best part of the novel
They really did cut it out
Was waiting for wei wuxian to say "just missing the little one" ╥﹏╥
They cut out the important back story of the donkey riding scene.

It reminds MC of how his father would lift his mother onto the donkey and lead it by the reins like the ML is currently doing. The only thing different from his memory is that there is no "little one" riding the father's shoulders. MC thinks it could be nice to have a kid around to complete the picture
