So everything pretty much that he has done was to protect her and the misunderstanding is on her side. The sword was given to her so that she could protect herself but he couldn’t say it just in case of prying ears but he thought she’d understand (because he thought she knew he loved her) and he sent the crown prince to actually save her and protect her. However she thought he was sent to kill her.
The father has pretty much been trying to protect her from the start, and everything she thinks about him from her perspective is (accurate in her mind because she doesn’t know the details) is honestly wrong. Like when she thinks the father liked Mikhail. He liked her being happy so he accepted Mikhail and was nice to her. He did not actually like Mikhail.
But juvel thought He gave up on her.. She really does Misunderstand Everything So she ended up dying..
