Do that after torturing him with drops of water on the forehead. It may not sound gruesome but it is a psychological torture. Cut off a finger and put it in his mouth and sew it shut. Has to taste the decaying finger and no water.

Ah, nice, humanity at its peak... I knew about the water drop one but the finger one is really... Everything is so gruesome, and the worst is, some countries (or most countries? Idk I'm not that much of a pro on the subject) still authorise torture so it's not even something we can say ""belongs to the past""
i agree. I was brought up to hate this country (the one that did the tortuous methods to my country's soldiers) and I've just had about enough. It will never be ok and the past will never really be in the past as the scars are just so gruesome. But once we start the practice of letting go (i mean we weren't really the nicest during war either), world peace could be achieved. It was the government officials' fault, not the fault of the people. So i totally understand where you come from XD
