As far as I know, that story was actually based off of Chinese folk lore. Although in the original the fairy is a woman and they don’t really end up happily every after. My guess is that the author didn’t want to do anything disrespectful, so they stopped that one there.
Oh no I'm not talking about that... there was another side story... I'm not sure if it's here or not but it was included in "a week of lost" it was a really good omegaverse story... it was like the origin of alphas and omegas...
