We still dont know much but the memories increase... you learn some parts of what happened and it slowly builds, personally i'd hold out and take the clues as they come because otherwise you'll only get theories of others cuz its so slow burn and uncertain

Most definitely, there's not really any other other explanation for it, also the hallucinations are definitely real because they kill and it seems that the childhood friend somewhat controls them...(these hands and hallucinations) but also seems the MC may also be their sort of owner... one who can control them too if he remembers who he is and accept them but thats just my theory. Just seems the MC had more to do with how it got to this from when they were young then the childhood friend considering he was shy and scared and the MC (you'll see in future flashbacks) was not scared of much and very hmm brave...unsettling strong if that make sense
