Hmmmm not really. If you think about it this way, since she’s never really had anything, she’s not used to receiving/ asking for anything. It’s like for example if an abused dog receives love for the first time, it’s not going to trust the human that quickly. Eventually maybe, but at first, it’s going to reject the warmth.

+ that kind of abuse makes u feel like ur unworthy of nice things & don’t deserve to ask for anything (& then it becomes abnormal to even dream of experiencing something nice bc it’s so foreign to u and u don’t believe u deserve it... etc). So her reaction makes a lot of sense tbh since that’s all she’s ever known. That kind of mindset isn’t something u can just switch/turn off once u get an opportunity to improve ur life. It’s a pretty common consequence of emotional/physical abuse for victims to end up with that kind of low self worth/self esteem
So yeah that’s prob why^^
But what she said was true, she’s never had anything her whole life you’d expect that she’d want more.
