It's cause as long as no one else can see how cute Kei is, he will have no rivals. I once read a manga where a guy accidentally discovered a thick-glasses girl was cute underneath the glasses and didn't want any other guys see ing her without them and finding out she was super cute, cause he didn't want them as rivals.
Now that you mention it, that DOES explain why he hated the idea of that table of people remaking Kei into a hottie for their blog... Yeah, I can totally see what you mean.
I love how Seiji isn't pushing Kei to change in any way. Granted that under those glasses he's actually a cutie, but I still like how supportive and caring he is. Kei has snagged the perfect boyfriend. ╥﹏╥
