Her and Lucas work well because they are both mentally adults stuck in teenage bodies. One of the reasons Lucas feel in love with Athy was because she mentally challenged him in ways and he was genuinely shocked she has so much fight to live multiple lives. It started off as him quietly rooting for her, and grew to something more
