When HxH was first aired to my country, they call it Genei Ryodan. I got used to calling them that. Is that wrong? Truth be told, I didn't know that they are called Phantom Troupe until I first saw a subbed version of the anime.
He calls it as he wants it, you call it as you want it. There's no "right" or "wrong".
