I personally don’t think it’s a bad thing that people do that. As there are three ways people can relate to a work of fiction or media. The can relate it; text to self, text to world, or text to text. In the case of text to self, people are just giving their own view points on the story and how they themselves relate to the character(s).
It is not a bad thing to relate. I relate and feel, too. But it's bad when they bad mouth the artist/author for making an interesting story out of a villain person perspective.
Ppl seem to always confuse these characters with their real lives and insert themselves in the plot. A bad person does not mean a bad character and this story has been showing us a whole new perspective, how someone can have everything and yet has nothing.
This is POV of a person who ppl might consider rotten, it is rare to see the perspective of a "bad" person, especially in a story well written.
So yes, it is interesting. Not because he is a rapist, not because he is a big bully, but because it shows how human beings are.
