Damien is his twin brother's kid.
His twin brother was forced to have a kid with his sister and so Damien was born.
I think the sister died tho.

But yeah Damien is not the Duke's kid it's his twin brother's kid.

(There is also no way the twin brother had a lover and had Damien because he can only have a son if he does it with his sister.)

I'm not too sure anymore really, I read it awhile ago.. but I think only the doctor and the duke were the only ones who knows about the sister.. and you know, even if she was a sister, they only think of her as someone to bore another child, another sister to continue the Taran bloodline, so she wasn't exactly a princess in their eyes.. anyway, both the brother and sister didn't know they were related until their deaths, the ML only learned about it when the doctor brought the kid home.. that was what I remember
