If I’m not mistaken his dream was three years in the future and as we later see they are still together and in love! I think it was a way for the author to say they really do have a happy ending and will be together for much longer (although I’m just going to imagine it’s for forever because I love them so much) ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄
