Maybe its cuz of the power of the story. Like in the start Maize and Hailey couldn't help but like him. Since mc was isekaid she snapped out of it and helped Hailey. But the princess is the original female lead so I guess the attraction is more for her.

I have no idea what the princess sees in him, to make her love him to that extent. Even though I don’t like her because of her possessiveness, I hope that she opens up and friends MC, so that they’ll be besties, like think about it we never thought that MC would friend Hailey and here we are now their friendship is so wholesome Hailey so relatable, I love her gosh (≧∀≦)
