As an aside do you know where the expression “Don’t through the baby out with the bath water” came from? It’s from colony times when the almost never bathed. You see they had to take almost all day lugging over buckets of water to fill a basin to use and they’d all have to share the same bath, but it was only big enough for one person. So the husband would go first then the wife then oldest to youngest child and people used to have a minimum 7-8 kids so the last person to be washed would be the baby by which time the water would absolutely filthy and you couldn’t see through it so you wouldn’t be able to see any part of the baby under the water. Thus”Don’t through the baby out with the bath water”

Ph in that case the saying “Don’t through the baby out with the bathwater” isn’t used a whole lot now, but is a more common saying with the older generations. It means don’t be hasty and through out something good or pass on something because for something bad. So for example:
Person 1: You should get Netflix
Person 2: No way they made that god awful Cuties movie. I’m going to get Hulu
Person 1: whoa whoa there. Don’t through the baby out with the bath water Netflix has Castlevania, Tiger King and a lot of other great shows
Aww that was smooth af but did you just say you went back without stopping? BRUH GET YOUR SMELLY ASS TO BATH FIRST OMG imagine how smelly he is I’d faint from it but since he’s a hunk I’m gonna slide this one
