It would have been unrealistic (though I guess it does happen for some people) if he just went straight from not knowing about something to just 100% acceptance without comprehension of what it means to the person and why.
I know he’s not perfect, but the uke’s trying. It takes time to fully accept someone, and any rush in the process could cause ingenuity. Plus, he offered to let their date end early because he saw that his date was uncomfortable.
