Well here's the thing~ he knew that FL's feelings about her and he actually feels the same but because he knew that FL loves him more he decided to get married cause he also loves the throne.
He thought that even if he's married he can still have both the throne and FL.

Yeah in a previous chapter it mentioned how the king always loved Wendy too but he didn't want to drag her into the political life because he knew she hated it so he had to choose her or the crown and he chose the crown. He never got over her though and he married someone else probably because he had to for political standing. He isn't mad at her for being happy he's just upset I guess because she's with soemone else. I feel for the king but that was his choice when he knew she loved him too and he can't regret it or be selfish now.
