I think Vicar is getting scared of starting to "feel" something towards the mc before they did it as it was something beneficial for them but now he is clearly starting to get CLOSER emotional and intimately and with his plan of vengeance he feels it will get in the way.（/TДT)/ ╥﹏╥
Not just on an intimate and emotional level but their closeness would not only would be a potential weakness for Vicar but could also harm the mc if he is not careful. So he is basically trying to prevent all unfavorable casualties from occurring by removing himself and distancing their relationship. (〜￣△￣)〜
