I swear most readers have the memory of a fruit fly. One of the tropes I hate the most is when the FL forgives an abusive man because he's nice to her now and it's portrayed as sweet that his feelings for her 'changed' him. Nevermind the implication that he still treats other women (and people in general) terribly he's seen how 'special ' she's not like those other woman who he murders, rape, blackmails, and torture. I'm glad that this story isn't going down that route.
