Hear me out, the duke loves Louis right? like he's obsessed. what if he got so obsessed with him that he made a plan to drug Louis but was sabotaged by the prince. and got frustrated over this and fact that he knew that Louis was never going to love him back, so he started to take this frustration out on people that looked like Louis. hence why all the victims have similarities to him...
